Dyeing With Tea...

I dyed some cotton yarn again and this time I used tea bags! Yes, I sacrificed several tea bags to the dye pot (but first I made a ginormous pot of tea with them). I wanted the white in this yarn to be a little less glaring and the tea was just what was needed to give the scarf a gentle beige tint without messing with the green...

There are lots of online tutorials for dyeing with tea but I didn't use any of them because I am hopeless at following directions. I just took a bunch of tea bags, threw them in some very hot water and swirled the scarf around until I thought it was done (which lasted about ten minutes because I lost interest).

This is the Isar Scarf (a free pattern, scroll down the page a bit). I used two skeins of Bernat Handicrafter (136 yd / 125 m) and a 4.5mm hook on 14 stitches for a total length of 70 in / 178 cm...

The only problem is....I don't like the colour now...it looks like someone was a very messy eater and dropped blobs of green stuff all down their front. Never mind though, it was fun and I'd probably do it again, just because I could.

After that exhausting experiment, I knit me another Feather & Fan Neckwarmer (and no tea bags were involved in this project)...

Here is a lovely new shelf in my laundry room, built by the mister (no room is complete without a teddy watching over it)...

a fuzzy visitor...

and a gorgeous November 1st morning...

Time now to wander off and make myself a cheery cup of tea, so I'll wish you a peaceful week and hope to see you soon.

“We had a kettle; we let it leak:
Our not repairing made it worse.
We haven't had any tea for a week...
The bottom is out of the Universe.”
